MEDIA Launches Statewide Campaign to Strengthen Local Journalism

 The Media Education Development Initiatives Africa (MEDIA) is proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking campaign aimed at securing legislation to support civic information, local news, and community storytelling across Enugu State.

This initiative calls on good governance advocates, community members, students, journalists, legislators, and supporters to raise their voices—from emails and op-eds to social media shares and word-of-mouth—to make civic information a statewide priority.

“A well-informed public is the foundation of a thriving democracy,” said Nkiru Ekwo, Executive Vice – President at MEDIA. “This campaign is about ensuring that every community in Enugu has access to trusted, local news and the tools to tell their own stories.”

Key Goals of the Campaign Include:

MEDIA invites all stakeholders to join the movement and share this message widely. Together, we can build a more informed and empowered Enugu State.
